Paul G. Winter: Born May 22, 1930 in Wuppertal, Germany; son of August and Elffriede Winter. Completed high school in 1945 and entered apprenticeship with Arnold Dollmann, a Grandmaster in stained glass painting and designing. After 3 1/2 years, including attending the Academy of Fine Arts in Duesseldorf and the Art Trade School in Wuppertal, he received the Certficate and Degree as a Stained Glass Painter and Designer. He worked from 1948 to 1957 as a Stained Glass Artist in the studios of Wester and Most; Erwin Lang; Emil Otto, and as a Master Artist in the studio of Hanns Bernhardt.
Mr. Winter, along with his wife and child, immigrated to Edmonton in 1957. After working in various places and job, he established Winter Art Glass Studio in 1961 and later in 1984 the firm incorporated. They expanded the firm into retailing supplies and established Aalpha Oomega Stained Glass Gallery and Supplies.
Mr. Winter has designed and executed hundreds of stained glass windows for churches of all denominations, commercial and government buildings. Hundreds of stained glass panels and lamps can be found in private homes in Germany, Switzerland, France, Canada to mainland U.S.A., Hawaii, Alaska, Brazill, South Africa, New Zealand and Japan.
